10 Things Swim Drink Fish is Doing to Keep Our Water ‘Swimmable, Drinkable, and Fishable’

Our President and Founder, Mark Mattson, always says, “The water can’t speak for itself, it’s up to us to speak up and protect it.” The statement is simple yet perfectly representative of what it means to be part of the movement for swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. It’s about standing up for the places you know and love the most because it can’t stand up for itself.

We are passionate about protecting the water at Swim Drink Fish, and we work towards that protection in a number of ways through our initiatives. Here are ten ways we’re actively working to protect and celebrate water in Canada and beyond:

1. Empowering Communities to Protect and Celebrate Water

2. Providing a Free Platform for Sharing Water Quality Data

3. Advocating for Real-Time Monitoring in the City of Toronto

4. Storytelling Through the Watermark Project

5. Uniting Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Groups through the Biinaagami Project

6. Bringing Artists Together Across Canada to Celebrate Water

7. Increasing Swimmability of Urban Waterfronts

8. Investigating Water Quality Across Canada

9. Advising Governments on Water Issues

10. Inspiring Community Groups to Advocate for Their Local Waters

Each of these initiatives is part of a broader commitment to fostering connection with water. We’re excited to be releasing a series of blogs over the next few weeks that delve deeper into our work – stay tuned.
