Explore Water Monitoring with Swim Drink Fish

Swim Drink Fish is here to help you make informed decisions and get involved in conserving the river. Join us to find out how!

Saturday, August 24 · 10 am - 12 pm MDT
Dawson Park: 10298 89 Street Northwest Edmonton, AB T5Z 0E7

The North Saskatchewan River is the lifeline of Edmonton. Conserving its ecological soul is a pride point for the community. But, the river has numerous pollution sources. How does this affect local water quality and your ability to swim in the water? What about aquatic habitat? What can you do in your community to help?

Learn about these topics and more at Swim Drink Fish's Water Monitoring workshop. As a community-based monitoring program with a focus on recreational water quality on the North Saskatchewan River, this will be a hands-on learning opportunity to test water quality, learn about water quality issues, clean up the litter, and get involved in conserving your water. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about how to make a difference in your community, and connect with like-minded peers. This event will happen at the river bank and in the water (optional!), so bring your walking shoes and dress for the weather!

Feel free to reach out to madeleine@swimdrinkfish.ca with any further questions about Swim Drink Fish's events in Edmonton.

EARTH DAY CLEANUP

Join Swim Drink Fish for an earth day shore line cleanup at Ashbridges Bay Park and Woodbine Beach!

Register here

Want to take action and celebrate your local environment for earth day? Swim Drink Fish is hosting an Earth Day cleanup at Ashbridges Bay Park and the Adjacent Woodbine Beach (A Blue Flag beach!). This event is also one of the many Great Lake CleanUp events taking place between April 22 and May 6th

We'll be cleaning up the beach, and also be there to talk about actions we can all take well beyond earth day to support swimmable drinkable fishable future in the Toronto.

We'll have spare gloves/buckets/trash bags on hand, but if you have your own gloves, litter pickers or trash bags (old rice bags, wood bags, cement bags, or buckets work really well!) please bring them along.

We'll have a tent set up at this location where we can all meet and hand out cleanup supplies!

We'll also be collecting trash data for science! If you have a phone and want to contribute data, you can download the cleanswell app ahead of time.
