2004 Beach Report

In 2004, Lake Ontario Waterkeeper monitored beach postings at 36 beaches in Durham, Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, and St. Catharines. Our project found that none of the regions met the province's standard for clean beaches (open at least 95% of the summer).

The most frequently posted beaches were: Bayfront Park (Hamilton), Bluffer's Beach (Toronto), Sir Casmir Gzowski (Toronto), Pier 4 (Hamilton), and Municipal Beach (St. Catharines).

The beaches that were never posted were: Hanlan's Point (Toronto), Cherry Beach (Toronto), Bowmanville West, Frenchman's Bay East (Pickering), and Whitby Beach East.
