Waterkeeper receives CIELAP award

Last week, Waterkeeper was honoured by the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy at its 34th Annual Reception. Waterkeeper, along with David Schindler and Zenon Environmental, were given CIELAP's Award for Advancing the Environmental Agenda.

Founded in 1970, The Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy (CIELAP) is an independent, not-for-profit research and education organization.

CIELAP is dedicated to the idea that we can - and must - make better decisions. Our vision is of a world in which basic human rights include a safe and healthy environment. We believe that respect for and preservation of nature's integrity and environment will help us achieve this vision.

Lake Ontario Waterkeeper Mark Mattson attended the reception to accept the award on behalf of Canada's eight Waterkeepers: Doug Chapman (Fraser River), Danielle Droitsch (Bow Riverkeeper), Canadian Detroit Riverkeeper (Ken Cloutier), Mary Muter (Georgian Baykeeper), Lake Ontario Waterkeeper (Mark Mattson), Meredith Brown (Ottawa Riverkeeper), Daniel LeBlanc (Petitcodiac Riverkeeper), and David Thompson (Fundy Baykeeper).
