MEDIA ADVISORY: Toronto artists contribute to water-themed charity art show on World Water Day

Waterkeeper is hosting an Art Preview event Tuesday, March 22nd at CONTACT Gallery. Some of the biggest culture-makers in Toronto are expected to attend in support of Waterkeeper.

What to expect:

  • Works by recent Governor General's Award winners Edward Burtynsky and Wanda Koop.
  • Works by established and emerging visual artists: Michael Adamson, John Brown, Ian Busher, Adam Colangelo, Laura Culic, Steve Driscoll, David Grieve, John Hartman, Thaddeus Holownia, Daniel Hughes, Joshua Jensen-Nagle, Mendelson Joe, Stewart Jones, Nicole Katsuras, Anita Kunz, Rebecca Last, Elizabeth Lennie, Vivian Maier, David Marshak, Paul Mantrop, Charles Pachter, Andrew Peycha, Victoria Piersig, Christopher Roberts, Alexis Rockman, Andrew Rucklidge, Rob Saley, Joseph Sampson, Tony Scherman, Ben Schumacher, Su Sheedy, Gabor Szilasi, Joanne Tod, Michael Toole, James Wilson, and Brenda Webster Tweel will also be on display.
  • Waddington’s Auctioneer Stephen Ranger and contributing artist Michael Adamson will speak about a few of the featured works.

Many of the pieces in the show will be auctioned off to raise funds for charity at the 2016 Waterkeeper Gala. The Gala, presented by McKeil Marine, is April 21, 2016. This year’s event returns to the Canadian Broadcasting Centre (CBC) at 25 John Street in Toronto. Gala details: www.waterkeepergala.ca/media

All funds raised support Waterkeeper’s work to ensure Canada’s waterways are swimmable, drinkable, fishable so communities can prosper.
