Recommendations to parliamentary committee reviewing Bill C-69

Bill C-69 is working its way through the parliamentary process. It includes major transformations to Canada's environmental assessment process as well as improvements to navigation protections.

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development invited public comment on the proposed changes. Swim Drink Fish offered this submission to the Committee to help its review of Bill C-69.

Swim Drink Fish has actively followed legislative changes to federal environmental law and submitted briefs at every major committee stage since the first changes to the Navigable Waters Protection Act were made in 2009.

Our comments are intended to help ensure the new legislation safeguards the public’s right and ability to safely swim, drink, and fish.
