Gratitude Swim celebrates Swim Drink Fish movement and Gord Edgar Downie Pier

On July 26, 2018, we unveil the Gord Edgar Downie Pier at Breakwater Park in Kingston. It’s a day of celebration and gratitude. We can't think of a better way to celebrate than jumping into the water for a swim - a Gratitude Swim.

The Gratitude Swim follows the Gord Edgar Downie Pier dedication with the City of Kingston and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation. It celebrates the decades of hard work, from you and many others. We are grateful for all you've contributed to the Swim Drink Fish movement.

It’s also a day to remember our gratitude for Gord Downie’s passionate leadership. Swim Drink Fish designed a commemorative Gord Edgar Downie Pier t-shirt to help honour him. At the pier dedication, look for Swim Drink Fish staff wearing the commemorative t-shirt for details on how to get one.

The pier dedication and swim have received incredible support already, and no matter where you are, we invite you to join the day’s celebrations. Tell us what you are grateful for and share the experience on July 26, 2018.

Here’s how to participate:

Find your local waterbody and think about what you’re grateful for. Then take a picture or video of you jumping in. Share it with us on social media and let us know what you’re grateful for. No matter where you are on July 26th, you can join the Gratitude Swim. In fact, it includes Swim Guide’s over 80 affiliates from six countries.

The Gratitude Swim truly celebrates what this movement stands for: connecting people with water and helping new water voices emerge.
