Canadian Waterkeepers to gather in Ottawa

This week, Canadian Waterkeepers will gather in Ottawa to share success stories and discuss the future of the movement in this country.

Ottawa Riverkeeper Meredith Brown is hosting the second annual gathering of Canadian programs. We will be joined Tuesday by Waterkeeper Alliance president Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

With ten programs nationwide, the Canadian network is larger this fall than last year. Two new Waterkeepers have come on board - Thunder Baykeeper and Grand Riverkeeper, Labrador - and interest in the Alliance is spreading.

Every Waterkeeper views him or herself as an action-oriented, grassroots activist dedicated to protecting local waterways. Talks will focus on the capacity-building, national issues, and strategic planning work necessary to strengthen our approach to environmental protection from coast to coast to coast.
