Musicians, Artists, and Philanthropists Gather to Honour Mentor and Board Member Gord Downie at Swim Drink Fish Gala.

Canadian artists, philanthropists contribute to another outstanding Swim Drink Fish Gala. Artworks by James Lahey, Barbara Cole and Edward Burtynsky were highlights in the live auction.

April 26, 2018— Toronto, Ontario — Swim Drink Fish Gala

Over 400 people gathered at Rebel on the Toronto waterfront for the seventh annual Swim Drink Fish Gala presented by McKeil Marine. More than $500,000 was raised at the event, bringing the event’s fundraising tally to $3.4-million over the past seven years.

Highlights from the gala included:

  • A heartfelt tribute to Gord Downie, Swim Drink Fish mentor and board member

  • Performances by Andrea Nann and Brendan Wyatt of Dream Walker Dance Company, Sarah Harmer, Andy Maize, Aaron Comeau, and Paul Langlois of the Tragically Hip

  • The 7-piece live art auction with Canada’s foremost fine art auctioneer, Stephen Ranger of Waddington’s.

  • Swim Drink Fish ambassador Marilyn Bell appointing new ambassadors; Loren King, Madhu Nagaraja, Nora Osbaldeston, Tanis Rideout, and Tim Thompson

All gala proceeds support Swim Drink Fish’s movement of people working for a future where everyone in Canada can experience swimmable, drinkable, fishable waters.

Swim Drink Fish’s initiatives (Lake Ontario Waterkeeper, Fraser Riverkeeper, North Saskatchewan Riverkeeper, Great Lakes Challenge, Swim Guide, Watermark Project, and Great Lakes Guide) create tools using law, science, and communications technology that inspire people around the world to explore, understand, and protect their waters.
