Blue Flags awarded to 23 beaches and 10 marinas in Canada for 2021, announces Swim Drink Fish

Toronto, ON -- 23 beaches and 10 marinas have earned the prestigious Blue Flag Canada certification this year. Blue Flag is an international award given to beaches and marinas that meet high environmental, safety, and cleanliness standards. Swim Drink Fish became the National Operator of the Blue Flag program in Canada in 2020.
The Blue Flag will be an important symbol for Canadians looking for memorable beach and marina experiences this summer. Last year a record number of Canadians visited Blue Flag destinations looking to explore their local waters close to home. This prestigious award is especially powerful this year as we go into our second summer during the COVID-19 pandemic when people again will be remaining close to home.
Blue Flag Canada welcomes a new marina this year, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. This marks the first marina in Toronto to be awarded the Blue Flag. All other 2021 Blue Flag Canada sites have previously achieved Blue Flag certification. The full list of 2021 Blue Flag Canada recipients is below.

Swim Drink Fish is working with each Blue Flag Canada site operator to keep communities informed about health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. People should consult their local health unit before swimming, paddling, or boating.
Currently there are local restrictions as result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please consult your local health unit or beach operator for more information about beach closures in your area. Blue Flags will fly at beaches and marinas when sites are able to safely open and where social distancing can be practiced.

Toronto, ON -- 23 plages et 10 marinas ont obtenu le prestigieux label Pavillon Bleu Canada cette année. Le Pavillon Bleu est un label environnemental international attribué aux plages et aux marinas qui atteignent des standards élevés de qualité environnementale, de sécurité et de propreté. En 2020, Swim Drink Fish est devenu l’Opérateur National pour le programme Pavillon Bleu au Canada.
Le label Pavillon Bleu deviendra un symbole important pour les Canadiens en quête d’expériences mémorables sur les plages ou au sein de marinas cet été. L’année dernière, un nombre record de Canadiens se sont rendus sur des sites certifiés par le Pavillon Bleu, à la recherche de destinations et d’eaux de baignade à explorer près de chez eux. Cette désignation prestigieuse est d'autant plus importante cette année, alors que nous entamons notre deuxième été pendant la pandémie de Covid-19 et que nous ne nous éloignerons pas fort de chez nous.
Cette année, le programme Pavillon Bleu Canada accueille une nouvelle marina : le Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Celle-ci devient la première marina à Toronto à obtenir le Pavillon Bleu. Tous les autres sites ayant obtenu la certification du Pavillon Bleu Canada en 2021 avaient préalablement obtenu la certification du Pavillon Bleu. L’organisation Pavillon Bleu International reconnaîtra les plages et marinas désignées sous le label Pavillon Bleu Canada lors de son communiqué global le 25 mai 2021.
