False Creek Welcomes Seabins to Capture Floating Trash with Launch of Vancouver Plastic Cleanup

Floating Trash Skimmers Installed Around Granville Island to Clean up False Creek Waters and Shed Light on Plastics Problem

June 18 - Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Plastic Cleanup aims to pilot 12 Seabins over the next three summers in Vancouver waters. Seabins capture plastic pollution before it travels further into the sea and enters the food chain.

WHAT: Media are invited to join Swim Drink Fish and coalition partners on site for the launch of Vancouver Plastic Cleanup. 

We will gather at the Seabin installed at Vancouver Public Dock, one of our three Seabins installed around Granville Island, for an in-person demonstration of Seabin trash skimming technology, emptying, and waste characterization process. Plans for the next three years will be discussed by various coalition members.

WHEN:  Monday, June 21 2:00-3:00 pm
