Waterkeeper requests temporary adjournment of Darlington new nuclear hearing

On March 21, 2011, Lake Ontario Waterkeeper opened the Darlington New Nuclear Plant hearing with a request to temporarily adjourn the three-week environmental assessment and licencing hearing. We submitted a long list of important information currently missing from Ontario Power Generation's proposal, including its choice of reactor technology and cooling water technology. We also cited the need to await review of the nuclear crisis currently unfolding in Japan to better understand how to protect humans and the natural environment in case of emergency.

Our written submission to the panel with legal citations is available here.
