Inaugural swim race in Toronto a huge success!

On August 18th, 200 swimmers took the early morning ferry from mainland Toronto to Ward’s Island for the inaugural Toronto Island Lake Swim.

The brainchild of Steve Hulford and Bill Poole - both avid lake swimmers - the Toronto Island Lake Swim reminded Toronto-area swimmers to go jump in Lake Ontario!

Lake Ontario Waterkeeper partnered with the Toronto Island Lake Swim to help raise awareness about the importance of protecting our public swimming areas.

We were thrilled to be a part of this amazing new annual event. Can’t wait to see you in 2014!

Check out some photos from the event on Flickr.
