Today marks the closing of the first ever Kingston and Wolfe Island Culture Festival. Over the past 7 weeks we have explored what the Great Lakes mean to Kingston and Wolfe Island, how they’ve shaped our geography, our history, our identity. And, how they will shape our future.
Lake Ontario Waterkeeper Presents the Kingston & Wolfe Island Culture Festival
Wolfe Island, Ontario - the largest of the thousand islands - is one of Canada’s most cherished natural spaces. Sitting at the end of Lake Ontario and the start of the St. Lawrence river the Island marks both the entry and exit points for all five Great Lakes.
Wolfe Island's Lake Ontario Cup Tournament
The Lake Ontario Cup is an annual hockey tournament hosted on Wolfe Island since 2002. Although a small event, the tournament is quite cherished amongst locals, writers, and musicians – including Waterkeeper Mark Mattson, Dave Bidini, and Paul Steenhuisen. Paul recalls how the tournament does so much more than satisfy his love for hockey and provide the winning team with a milkjug trophy.
